When Google OAuth is Down…

As usual, I came to the Office at 8:30 am on Monday morning, brewed a pot of Verve coffee, made small talks with colleagues, then headed back to my desk. After browsing through my emails left from the past weekend, I decided to click on the link that redirects me to the failed Jenkins job. And here is what I saw from my Google Chrome browser:

Okay, Google, now I am kind of concerned. I went to Google Trends and found the keywords “Google OAuth Down” is trending, and people start to report the site issue all over the globe now.

As a Software Engineer from Productivity Team, suddenly I become less productive or even not productive anymore due to one Google application outage. As a matter of fact, many others in Silicon Valley are facing the same issue at the same time: now our applications are no longer accessible, and we have a release scheduled in a couple of minutes, and I cannot login into our dashboards to monitor the realtime traffic, nor can I file a ticket to other Developers nor ……. . I can only sip my morning coffee which is…
